Mục tiêu của nghiên cứu là khám phá vai trò của các yếu tố cá nhân và bối cảnh công việc trong việc hình thành ý định khởi sự kinh doanh kết hợp. Thông qua phân tích mô hình cấu trúc với 284 quan sát, kết quả cho thấy tự tin năng lực quản lý xung đột công việc - dự án kinh doanh riêng là yếu tố tác động mạnh nhất; nghiên cứu còn phát hiện vai trò điều tiết của xu hướng đa nhiệm lên mối quan hệ giữa tự tin năng lực và ý định khởi sự kết hợp. Về mặt lý thuyết, nghiên cứu đã thành công giải thích ý định khởi sự kết hợp, xác định rõ loại tự tin năng lực nào là then chốt. Nghiên cứu đã kiểm định vai trò điều tiết của yếu tố tính cách – thường ít thấy trong các nghiên cứu vận dụng lý thuyết Nghề nghiệp nhận thức xã hội. Về thực tiễn, kết quả gợi ý về loại năng lực cá nhân cần có trong khởi sự kết hợp và nhấn mạnh vai trò của phong cách lãnh đạo trong việc phát triển sự nghiệp của nhân viên
