Tóm tắt

Mục tiêu của nghiên cứu nhằm đánh giá tác động của các yếu tố kinh tế, cấu trúc, thể chế và xã hội đến số thu thuế ở các quốc gia có thu nhập trung bình. Tác giả sử dụng dữ liệu của 50 quốc gia có thu nhập trung bình trong giai đoạn 2000–2013 và ước lượng bằng phương pháp GMM sai phân. Kết quả ước lượng phát hiện trình độ phát triển của quốc gia, độ mở thương mại, chỉ số về quyền chính trị có tác động tích cực đến số thu thuế, trong khi  giá trị gia tăng của khu vực nông nghiệp và chỉ số về quyền tự do dân chủ lại có tác động tiêu cực. Kết quả này có ý nghĩa đối với việc thiết kế chính sách tài khóa ở các quốc gia có thu nhập trung bình.
