Abstract

This research is developed based on integrating two theories: Behavior and expectancy-value theories. A quota survey sample from the coastal local community with 222/250 participants in Nha Trang Bay is conducted and analyzed. The results showed that all nine hypotheses are supported. Intention to minimize the use of plastic bags by coastal communities directly influenced by environmental awareness; perceived of the health effects of plastic bags; environmental responsibility; and the consideration of future consequences while the attitude towards protecting the coastal environment plays a completely mediating role in the relationship amongst these factors. Based on the research findings, the paper suggests some suitable policies that will encourage of costal local communities in improving the awareness of environmental protection and sustainable development of marine beach tourism in Nha Trang Bay.
